Instructions
The laminating process conditions for Safe Reflections' reflective graphic transfers will vary according to the fabric to which
they are applied. Work on a flat surface where uniform heat and pressure can be controlled. Do not apply transfers over seams and stitches. Ironing or hot pressing prior to application of the transfer can
remove wrinkles. Some fabrics, particularly nylons, should be preheated before the lamination process to prevent shrinkage of the material under the transfer. The paper backing of the transfer must be cool to the
touch before it is removed.
Lift the transfer backing from one corner to start, and gently peel the paper away while holding the fabric flat. For best results, peel the paper diagonally across the image. Do
not peel with excessive force or speed. On some dark fabrics, an edge outline may occur. If there is a light haze or halo on the periphery of the transfer it can be removed by first brushing it lightly with a medium
bristle toothbrush, then reheating the transfer for 1 to 3 seconds. This process can be repeated if the condition persists. It is strongly recommended that the above lamination instructions be followed for best
results.
Color Eclipse Transfer Lamination
Safe Reflections' Color Reflective Graphic Transfers have a special layer that protects the colored regions during the Heat Press
operation. Occasionally the special layer remains loosely bound over the colored areas after the transfer has been peeled off. Two simple techniques help to assist the removal of the protective layer.
-
After allowing the applied transfer to cool, turn the garment over and peel the fabric up off of the transfer while
holding the paper backing down on the table.
-
Light brushing with a toothbrush can be used to dislodge small remnants of the protective layer.
